![]() The trigonometric functions of OpenSCAD accept degrees, not radians, so you have to map radians to degrees by yourself before invoking these functions. One way to create a golden spiral is knowing how to generate the Fibonacci sequence. It creates golden spirals linearly extruded with different parameters, such as scale, twist and so on. triangles: 'SOLID' (default), 'HOLLOW' or user-defined indexes. Golden spiral generator is a thing which may be a base for my further designs. scale: Scales the 2D shape by this value over the length of the extrusion. twist: The number of degrees of through which the shape is extruded. You can also see in that module that I could have used a few more variables when I was dinking around with getting the scale just right.Once you know the spiral equation is r = bθ, it's not hard to draw an Archimedean spiral. Many thanks to Dominick for making this possible.Build instructions and examples can be found in the openscad-wasm repository on github The ZIP package contains an experimental build based on this work for WebAssembly allowing OpenSCAD to run inside a web browser. armdistance, initangle, pointdistance, numofpoints and rtdir: See archimedeanspiral for details. Creates a cylidrical worm (archimedean spiral) following DIN 3975. A library for the parametric creation of gear racks, spur-, ring-, bevel- and worm gears, as well as of assemblies. ![]() OpenSCAD Library for Gear Racks, Involute and Worm Gears. There's a bit of a balancing act between that argument and the scale used for the spiral when the spiral is too thick it starts to close up and looks like a skewed ampersand instead. This is a fork of this OpenSCAD gear generator, translated into English. I.e., the line of the spiral gets thicker when you increase that argument. Incidentally, the argument for the makespiral() call controls the diameter of the points used to construct the spiral.
